Back to School for Sandwich Night in America
Every night is Sandwich Night here at Sandwich America. But we celebrate the ‘official’ Sandwich Night in America on the 4th Tuesday of every month.
Why this night? It’s the end of the month when budgets run low. It’s mid-week when schedules get crazy, and sandwich prep (and clean up) is easier than other meals. It brings families together for a fun and different family meal during the week.
Celebrating Sandwich Night
The kids are back in school and family schedules are a bit more hectic. For this reason, September Sandwich Night in America is an opportunity for a fun and interactive time with the kids. We wanted to make it a quick, yet nutritious meal as well.
We partnered with Sara Welch a food writer and photographer who runs a blog called Dinner at the Zoo to create a perfect, easy dinner for busy weeknights. Her two kids helped and they made this video showing how to make Aussie Greek Lamb Burgers.
Here’s the recipe and directions
AUSSIE GREEK LAMB BURGERS
1 lb Aussie Ground Lamb
1 tsp Lemon Zest
2 tsp Dried Oregano
2 tsp Minced Garlic
Salt and Pepper to Taste
1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
½ cup Diced Cucumber
2 tbs Fresh Dill, chopped
2 tsp Lemon Juice
1 tbs Olive Oil
For Serving: Buns Lettuce Tomato Onion
In medium bowl, mix together the Aussie Lamb, lemon zest, dried oregano, garlic and salt and pepper. Form into 4 patties. Grill for 4-5 minutes per side. In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, cucumber, dill, lemon juice, olive oil and salt and pepper. Place the burgers on the bottom buns, Top with yogurt sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion. Serve Immediately.
