In honor of this day we have scoured the foodiesphere for inspired doughnut sandwiches and there was no lack of inspiration. Check out some of our favorites.
Three ingredients is all you need for this inspired delight. A doughnut, some coffee ice cream, and a bag of chocolate chips. Melt the chips, sandwich the ice cream then dip and enjoy. Sometimes the simple things really are the best things.
One of our favorite things is a waffle with maple syrup and a side of bacon that gets touched every so lightly by the dripping maple syrup to create a delicious perfect bite. This inspired creation by Mackenzie Smith over at Grilled Cheese Social doesn’t leave anything to chance. Follow her lead – go get your free doughnut and make your own sandwich creation.
A maple glazed doughnut, some crispy bacon, Meunster cheese, a little pat of butter and voila you too can be in doughnut sandwich heaven.
This one has us speechless. The Duffman Luther Burger with a Krispy Kreme Donut Bun, Double Premium Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Fried Egg, Beef Patty, Jalapeños and Onion Rings from Oh My Burger in Gardenia, California. We were speechless but Duff Goldman tells us why this burger just works and how to eat it. (p.s. – it is rumored to have been created by or at least a favorite of Luther Vandross).
Want to get really ambitious? Make your own doughnuts just the right size for doughnut sliders with cream cheese filling and fresh blueberries. Yes Please!
